The MAPAN Code Blue Dancers are a group of Peri Anesthetic Nurses in Winnipeg who decided to spice up the entertainment at their annual national conference. Since 2007 they have practiced hard for several months before performing 2 different dance numbers in front of their colleagues.

In 2009, the ladies of Code Blue were invited to perform at the national conference in Toronto. After last year’s hit with Thriller, they needed to go bigger and better.

Punk Faerie was hired to create looks for each of the numbers: “Disco Inferno” & “More” as performed by Madonna from the movie Dick Tracy.

By far the most challenging piece of the Disco costume was creating floral wigs  (as inspired by Priscilla, Queen of the Desert) that would stay on during the rigorous dance routine and also be light enough that the ladies wouldn’t fall over with them on...

After buying out the dollar store of fake flowers and a few trail versions, success was had and I commenced assembling 12 copies. Lots of hot glue was used...

A Cigarette girl/money theme.

Bodysuits with gold coins at the collar, satin skirts with gold organza aprons attached to a satin cumberbund. Oversize bum bow & miniature top hat with fake money and gold mesh veils.

The ladies provided their own fishnet stockings and false eyelashes...
